Looking Inside the Cat Colonies at Heritage Humane Society

Michelle the cat was very excited to receive some treats!

In honor of International Cat Day, we at Heritage Humane Society thought it would be appropriate to spotlight our cat colonies, which are providing adoptable cats a chance to stay active and socialized while they wait for their forever families to come along.

Cat colonies are large rooms inhabited by multiple adoptable cats, all of whom have shown to be capable of cohabiting with other cats. In these rooms, cats are free to roam around, stay active and play with the many toys strewn throughout the room.

While these rooms are beneficial for cats, they are equally beneficial for potential adopters.

Bringing a new cat into the house can be stressful, especially if there’s already another cat living there. While not a guarantee of perfect cohabitation with your previous cats, potential adopters can rest easy knowing the cats in our cat colonies are familiar living with other cats.

In observance of International Cat Day, we surprised the cats living in our cat colonies with some special treats. It is our hope these cats will be able to celebrate next year’s International Cat Day with their new families. Stop by and check out some of the amazing cats we have to offer!
