Heritage Humane Society Animal Camp
Heritage Humane Society’s Animal Camp, which runs for select weeks throughout the summer, provides a wonderful opportunity for kids to learn about animals in our building and the variety of careers involving animals. Children interact with animals on a daily basis and become familiar with how to handle them. Guest speakers come talk to the campers and educate them on the importance of proper pet care and how they can help animals.
James City County Animal Control, a Virginia State Trooper K-9 Officer, K-9 Connection therapy teams, dog trainers from Colonial Williamsburg, and Canine Companions for Independence are just some of the numerous groups that have talked with HHS campers in the past.
We love seeing children from the community interact, play, and learn all about animal care. We had more than 100 campers last year. We love seeing fresh faces and returning campers, so we can’t wait until the start of this year’s animal camp!
