2016 Fur Tree

Since 2000, the Heritage Humane Society Fur Tree, which honors pets and homeless animals, has been placed in front of Mermaid Books in Colonial Williamsburg thanks to the generosity of our sponsors including Homestead Garden Center and Williamsburg Floral.

The tree is put up each year on the weekend following Thanksgiving. In previous years the tree was taken down the day after Christmas; however, it now remains up until after New Years.

Families and individuals may purchase bows to place on the tree with the name or names of beloved pets, former or current . Large bows (three names per bow or less) are $25 and small bows (three names per bow or less) are $10. The money raised from the bows goes directly to caring for the pets at Heritage Humane Society.

We dedicate the bow at the top of the tree to all the animals surrendered at the shelter.

Registration for the bows begins Tuesday, November 1. Return the Fur Tree Form by mail to Heritage Humane Society or purchase online and we will get your pet’s special bow placed on the tree!
